WESTVIC Dairy's new executive officer Gavan Mathieson's priority will be to ask farmers how they want their levy money invested.
WestVic Dairy today announced the appointment of Mr Mathieson who was raised on a dairy and later a beef farm at Naringal East.
Mr Mathieson most recently worked as a senior advisor for the Environmental Protection Authority.
"The first thing I want to do is talk to local farmers to understand their concerns and wishes and to focus on structural adjustments to help them to be profitable and sustainable even through price fluctuations," he said.
"I aim to strengthen WestVic Dairy's governance and make sure we are the best in Australia at implementing what farmers want in their local area," he said.
Mr Mathieson replaces Mike Weise who resigned earlier this year.
He starts in the role mid next month.
