SINCE joining Landmark 18 months ago, US researcher Mike Hauck has led the national roll-out of new tomato technology.
The Loveland product range includes exclusive plant nutrition technology.
A season-long trial of two key products - Awaken and NutriSync D - was carried out on Red Luck tomatoes in Bowen, Queensland, through Peracto, an agricultural research company.
The trial was carried out in four 10m plots and then replicated four times to compare four different practices.
"The key findings are when Awaken and NutriSync D are applied together; there was a huge increase in yield, in fact 11.34 extra tonnes per hectare," Mr Hauck said.
"The two products work well together because one focuses on the soil and the other on the plant.
"Horticulture growers are always looking for new technology to increase their yields and micronutrients have always been on their radar to produce good-quality fruit."
Bowen tomato producer Russell Dobe applied Awaken by foliar application and subsurface drip tape to 50ha of his tomatoes this year to compensate for the cooler and wetter winter conditions.
"The plants are fresher and more healthy than the ones that were not fed. They also seemed to handle the cooler conditions of this year's winter," he said.
