TELSTRA technicians are continuing to work around the clock to restore communications to Warrnambool in Victoria's southwest.

The town and surrounding areas lost phone and internet services after Telstra's exchange was damaged in a bushfire last Thursday.

Two mobile exchanges on wheels have been used to get payphones working again, as well as 250 medical priority assistance customers, essential services and over 450 other priority lines, such as retirement homes and schools.

A third mobile exchange from Queensland is due to arrive in Warrnambool early today.

Telstra says a team of 50 technicians is working across two 12 hour shifts to recover services to 60,000 customers in the region.
