UNJOINED young Merino ewes outsold first-cross ewes at today's special store sale at Wycheproof.
The sale yarded about 14,700 sheep.
Unjoined 2011-drop Border Leicester-Merino cross ewes sold at $68-$140 and ewe lambs made $64-$118.
Border Leicester-cross ewes with second cross lambs made $132-$204.
Young unjoined Merino ewes sold for $90-$165, while older ewes achieved $59-$74.
Woolly Merino wether lambs sold at $41-$48 and older Merino wethers made $44-$57.
About 1700 crossbred lambs fetched $37-$69.
A number of pens of ewes were passed in.
A client of TB White, at Ballarat, paid the day's top price of $204 for 192 September-October 2011-drop, August shorn first-cross ewes with 213 White Suffolk lambs, from Bushy Lodge, of Charlton South.
The best price for unjoined ewes was $165 for 145 August-September 2011-drop, Oakbank blood, April shorn ewes, from McRae Oaks, at St Arnaud.
Buyers came from Ararat, Avoca, Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Barham, Birchip, Bendigo, Boort, Donald, Euroa, Geelong, Horsham, Jeparit, Nullawil, St Arnaud, Stawell, Swan Hill, Warracknabeal and Wycheproof.
The next sale at Wycheproof - which will probably be the last for the year - is scheduled for Friday, December 7.
