UPDATE: THERE could be more storms for northern NSW today as the city of Tamworth cleans up after copping a battering yesterday.
Tamworth was hit with hailstones the size of cricket balls, as severe storms lashed the state's northern tablelands during the afternoon, causing minor damage and blackouts.
The State Emergency Service received about 150 calls for help in the area, mainly for broken skylights, windows and roof tiles.
There were also reports of fallen trees and branches, but no one was injured.
The bureau of meteorology said a storm watcher in Tamworth reported 98km/h wind gusts.
