UPDATE: SMALL grassfires have broken out at several locations across Victoria.
A small grassfire is burning out of control southwest of Swan Hill in Victoria and another fire is burning at the Puckapunyal Military Range.
The fire at Berriwillock is travelling northeast along the Berriwillock-Woomelang Road and is expected to reach Banyan, Myall and Sea Lake later today.
The fire covers about 5ha.
Separately, a fire caused by live firing has broken out at the Puckapunyal Military Range about 6km north west of Puckapunyal township.
The communities of Puckapunyal, Glenaroua, Seymour, Tallarook and Hilldene have been told to watch weather conditions and check their bushfire survival plans.
Residents in the central Victorian town of Heathcote have been warned to remain vigilant as a small grassfire burns nearby.
The Country Fire Authority first received reports of the blaze about 3.40pm (AEDT) and brought the 1ha fire under control in about 20 minutes.
The wind is expected to change later today, which may cause the fire to change direction and move towards the southwestern side of the town.
A CFA spokeswoman said the initial emergency message sent to residents had been downgraded and four fire crews were on the scene.
"The wind change is coming through and there is the potential for spotting but there are crews out there looking after it," she said.
"Remain vigilant, particularly in weather like this, that's always the advice - keep your eye out, stay in touch with all your forms of communication, whether it be social media (or) local radio."
