FRESHLY picked raspberries are in high demand in Tasmania.

Sweet, luscious raspberries are being delivered to Hobart twice a day from Lanoma Estate at Westerway, as the demand for the popular berry grows in the lead up to Christmas.

There are now about 40 pickers working on the farm but this week that number will increase to 150 pickers, to meet the huge demand for fresh raspberries in Hobart.

"We will be delivering tens of thousands of punnets, exactly how much is hard to say, but it is about fivefold the amount we usually deliver," manager Richard Clark said.

The family-owned Lanoma Estate is one of the biggest raspberry farms in the state.
