A MAN, 40, has been charged after allegedly bashing another man with a chair leg and a baseball bat in NSW's New England region.
Police say officers were called to a fight between two men inside a unit in Armidale at about 3.45pm (AEDT) yesterday to find a 47-year-old man with head injuries.
Police allege that a 40-year-old man arrested at the scene smashed a chair and used a chair leg to attack the victim before arming himself with a baseball bat and beating the older man about his head and body.
The injured man has been taken to Armidale Hospital in a stable condition.
The 40-year-old man was charged with reckless wounding and using a weapon to commit an indictable offence and was also charged with malicious damage after defecating in the police holding cell.
