ROMMY the koala is lucky to be alive after being trampled by a horse in northern Victoria.
The six-month-old joey was inside his mother's pouch when the horse kicked her in a paddock in Romsey.
The pair were taken to a Macedon Ranges wildlife carer after being found in the field.
Weighing just 650g, the bright-eyed furball is being fed five times a day to boost his strength and snuggles next to his sick mother most of the day.
"He is doing well, he sleeps a lot and curls up between her legs," said Linda, the wildlife carer.
"His mum is improving but she is still struggling. If she survives they will be released together, but for now it is touch and go."
