THE Queensland Government has opened the door to dumping compulsory voting as part of a radical overhaul of electoral laws.
The proposed move towards voluntary voting at state elections is among an extensive list of options the Government will seek feedback on before introducing reforms this year.
Other potential reforms include allowing the return of big money donations, forcing unions to allow members a vote on political donations, and introducing truth in political advertising legislation.
The review of electoral laws comes a little over a year since Labor introduced its own amendments which were condemned for entrenching its electoral advantages by the LNP.
