UPDATE: POLICE are investigating two shootings in country Victoria in the past 24 hours.
A man is being treated in Melbourne's The Alfred hospital after being shot in the chest at Garfield, this morning.
The 40-year-old was flown to hospital after being shot about 4.30am in Garfield Rd, in the West Gippsland town.
Police have a person in custody.
A spokeswoman for The Alfred said this morning the man was in a critical condition.
Police are appealing for information about a shooting on Tuaggra St, Maryborough.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said two vehicles were travelling along Tuaggra St when shots were fired from one vehicle into the tyres of the second vehicle.
No one was injured. Police believe the parties may have known each other.
