POLICE say a teenage boy has been killed after being hit with a blunt object during a fight near Ballarat.
They say a 14-year-old boy and a 45-year-old man became involved in altercation at a house on Carlyle Street, Scarsdale, at around 5am today.
Police say they had been taken to the house by a 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman who lived there, and the four were confronted by two men, and possibly a third, and a fight started.
During the fight, the boy sustained a serious head injury and while paramedics tried to revive the teenager, but he died at the scene.
Homicide detectives are speaking to the 45-year-old man, the two teenage girls, as well as a 17-year-old boy who lived with them.
Police are urging any witnesses to the fight to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
