RETIRING champion Mike Hussey let Mitch Johnson hit the winning run to bury Sri Lanka at the SCG and give Australia to a 3-0 series win.

Hussey bolted for a single, ensuring Johnson hit the winning run as Australia defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets at the SCG.

Johnson was blocking out the second over after the bizarre tea break, but Hussey sprinted from the non-strikers end and called the all-rounder through to secure victory for Australia.

The retiring great said he was "extremely happy" moments after the match.

"I didn't want to bat at all, I was hoping we'd get the runs none down," he said.

"I'd just like to be remembered as a good team man."

Hussey also revealed he would hand the team song to spinner Nathan Lyon.
