AS THE cool change brought relief to much of the state from yesterday's heat, residents at Mount Hotham were stunned to see snowflakes.
Mt Hotham Skiing company spokeswoman Gina Woodward said it was 3.2C on the mountain at 9.45am and the flakes were visible to all.
"We had flakes in the sky and everyone went "are you joking", it wasn’t cold enough to settle on the ground though," Ms Woodward said.
"At 2am a massive cool change came through and when I left the house this morning it was about 3C."
Ms Woodward said the wind chill factor was -3C, which would have caused the snowflakes early this morning.
"It's still at -3C but the sun is out so that’s why it's not snowing."
