PRICES reflected the good quality of the yarding at the annual Elders weaner sale at Yea today.

And restockers looking for good females to breed from helped push up prices.

Heavy steers sold on par with other recent sales on a dollars a head basis with the top pen selling for $790, while the lighter steers generally sold between $550 to $620 with some making up to 190c/kg.

The top pen of steers were sold by Hauser Bros from Murrindindi. The 18 Charolais steers, Ashwood Park and Paringa-blood, weighing 460kg (full on-farm weight) sold for $790.

Agents yarded 3974 weaners drawn mostly from the Yea and Kilmore region.

Sundown Pastoral Company from northern NSW, Westside Meats and Myrtleford and Gippsland restockers were the notable buyers.
