PIRRON Yallock's Elsi Neave has taken out this year's National All Breeds Dairy Youth Camp.

The 20 year-old, who works at The Points Holsteins, was awarded the Genetics Australia $2000 scholarship on the last day of the week-long camp at the Melbourne Show grounds today.

The win has capped off a stellar few months for Elsi who won VAS state junior judging title at the Royal Melbourne Dairy Show in September last year.

She attended this recent camp for additional training before a dairy judging competition in New Zealand later this year.

Camp Coordinator Alex Walker said there were 35 participants from 16-20 years of age with all dairy states except Tasmania represented.

There were three representatives from New Zealand.

Judging, clipping, washing and leading were all skills covered at the camp, but this year there was also a focus on marketing and individuals marketing themselves, according to Alex.

Various guest speakers addressed the group about marketing and leadership as well as making use of scholarship opportunities and developing CV's.

The event was sponsored by a number of industry organisations including the National Centre for Dairy Education Australia.
