A FOUR-CAR smash in Gippsland closed the Princes Highway near Stratford this afternoon.
A driver involved in the multiple car accident said he skidded for over 200 metres and hit another car head on after trying to avoid another vehicle entering from a side road.
Ambulances, police and the State Emergencies Service attended the crash on the Maffra-Sale turn off at about 1.30pm today.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said they received a call to the accident, however no-one required treatment.
A man involved the pile up told of his terror as he travelled south along the Highway to Stratford.
"I saw several cars coming towards me,” a man who did not want to be named said.
Another driver who’s utility was involved in a head on collision said he skidded for over 200 metres into the path of the busy Princes Highway traffic.
He was heading North out of Stratford and said he swerved to avoid another vehicle which came out of a side road.
The highway has now opened to traffic as emergency service continue to clean up.
