THREE people died in separate incidents around Victoria yesterday after a horror day on the roads.

A police spokeswoman said a 25-year-old Wodonga woman died at the scene of a collision in Brimin, near the NSW border, around midnight last night.

She said investigators believed a truck travelling east on the Murray Valley Highway collided with her car, which was travelling west.

The truck driver, who was not injured, is assisting police with their enquiries.

Two people were also killed in separate collisions in the east of the state within half an hour of each other yesterday afternoon.

A 26-year-old woman died in a head-on collision between two vehicles at Thornton, near Eildon, around 5.30pm.

Another woman died at the intersection of Nilma-Shady Creek Rd and Bloomfield Rd in Nilma, just east of Warragul, after her vehicle was struck by a white utility.

Police investigating the collisions will prepare reports for the coroner.

Nine people have died on the state’s roads this year, compared to 16 at the same time last year.
