A HEIFER from Simpson in Western Victoria made International Dairy Week history.
Holstein Ashbury Damion Bonnie owned by Bec Joyce and Jayke Fisher became the third generation of her family to take home a champion ribbon at the prestigious show today.
The October-calved heifer was crowned IDW grand champion heifer today.
This award meant she was the second generation to take-out the grand champion award on the IDW Youth Show.
"It’s awesome", Bec said after the win.
"We had six out today and they all placed in the top 10."
National Youth Show judge Graham McPhee complimented the champion heifers’ balance, openness and flatness of back as well as her dairyness, strength and power.
Ashbury Damion Bonnies’ dam Pooley Bridge Goldwyn Bonnie won the same show in 2009.
The grand-dam of this year’s champion Fairvale Jed Bonnie 94, owned by Leslie Farms, Arcadia was IDW champion Holstein in 2005 and 2007.
She won her class seven times at IDW.
At home, Mr Fisher said this year’s grand champion and her full sister, who will compete on Thursday in the Holstein show, are always first into the dairy.
Ashbury Damion Bonnie had an Aftershock heifer in October.
