GOOD trading conditions have prompted SunRice to pay growers another $15 a tonne for the 2012 rice crop.

SunRice chairman Gerry Lawson said the price increase now took the indicative full-year return from $280 a tonne to $296 a tonne.

Mr Lawson said the price was now $35 a tonne higher than the original estimate made last August.

He said the price rise would inject nearly $34 million into the rice growing economy.
