A MAN has died after his motorcycle fell down a 10 metre embankment at Falls Creek this morning.

The man is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle going around a bend south of the Falls Creek resort on Bogong High Plains Road.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said a helicopter was waiting to winch the man up to safety but he died at the scene.

"He suffered significant facial, hip and leg injuries," the spokesman said.

"He then went into cardiac arrest and paramedics tried to revive him but were unable to and he died at the scene."

The death takes this year’s road toll to 22 fatalities.

It was at 33 this time last year.
