PRICES jumped $15 to $20 at today's sale of about 11,000 sheep at Wycheproof.
The day started off in line with other recent sales in the area, but kicked away when it came time to sell a run of classy Merino ewes from Wimmera Downs, near Stawell.The McRae family, of Hawkesdale, paid $156 for the first draft of 706 May-June 2011-drop, Glenalpine blood, July shorn ewes, joined to Border Leicester rams.
Another 263 Wimmera Downs ewes from the same drop made $154 and 233 fetched $148.
Joined first-cross ewes made $43-$132, unjoined first-cross ewes sold to $141 and ewe lambs to $140.
Unjoined Merino ewes sold at $50-$100 and Merino wethers made $52-$67.
Buyers came from Ararat, Ballarat, Bendigo, Birchip, Boort, Cobram, Colac, Echuca, Horsham, Mortlake, St Arnaud, Swan Hill, Wycheproof.
