UPDATE: FIRE crews will backburn south of Harrietville as the Victorian bushfire battle continues.Overnight fire activity subsided but crews are preparing for increased activity this week as temperatures once again climb into the 30s.
Advice today states fire crews plan to backburn south of Harrietville.
A State Control Centre spokeswoman said fire activity had increased in the Sambas Mine area.
Crews are also working on a slow moving bushfire at Kerrie, Collerys Lane, north west of Melbourne.
A State Control Centre spokeswoman said the Kerrie fire was large and slow moving which also had a large spot fire.
She said this morning the Kerrie fire was within containment lines.
"We are expecting fire activity to increase during the day," she said.
She urged people to remain vigilant and check for fire updates throughout the day from the CFA website and ABC radio.
Meanwhile in Shepparton, residents might still see smoke and emergency vehicles patrolling the area where a grassfire was brought under control yesterday.
The fire burned out an orchard and grassland area behind the Shepparton Market Place Shopping Centre.
