SOME of the best sheep seen around Hay in years are being judged at the Peppin-Shaw ewe flock competition.

Widely regarded as the biggest sheep judging event in the world, the Peppin-Shaw takes visitors to sheep stations within 200km of Hay to see the operations' young ewes.

Yesterday, the bus took visitors across the vast plains north of Hay to visit the flocks at Tupra, Yamba, Bronte and Merritop.

Today, the bus will head south of Hay to see flocks including at Paraway Pastoral Company's Steam Plains as well as the Hooke family's Warwillah.

The winners will be announced at a presentation tonight.
