FIREFIGHTERS are being dropped into remote fire zones by helicopters or walking two hours as crews build containment lines.
The Harrietville blaze continues to burn out of control across 27 ,000ga in isolated parts of Victoria's Alpine region.CFA Watch and Act alerts remain in place for the towns of Cobungra, Dargo, Ensay, Hotham Heights, Omeo, Swifts Creek and Dinner Plain.
The Department of Sustainability and Environment says benign weather conditions have slowed the fire activity but crews are working around the clock to help stop the spread of fire if it flares up again.
