IT WASN'T quite Armageddon, but when Balranald was cut off from the world by a dodgy cable, residents were not too happy.
The cable cut off the internet and mobile phones and shut down ATMs for three days
But Balranald shire manager Chris Littlemore cut Telstra some slack, arguing it had its hands full restoring services in the flood areas of Queensland and NSW.
"If there were no challenges I'd probably be a lot more viniferous about the time it has taken them to fix it," Mr Littlemore said.
Viniferous? A quick check of the Macquarie reveals viniferous to mean "producing wine".
Back Paddock wonders if he meant "vociferous" but a pesky spell check turned it into something quite different.
Then again a few bottles of calming red might be the best way to deal with such a crisis.
