ATVS have claimed another life with the death of a Tasmanian man last night.

Tasmania Police media said the 23-year-old man and a passenger were riding an ATV along a beach last weekend when the accident occurred.

A police spokesman said the ATV hit a washout on the beach, and both people were thrown from the machine.

While the passenger received minor injuries, the driver sustained a major head injury.

The man was flown to Royal Hobart Hospital but died last night.

The spokesman said neither man was wearing a helmet.
