A MAN has died in a car accident which sparked a grassfire near Beaufort, in Western Victoria, this afternoon.
CFA, police, ambulance and SES crews were called to the single vehicle accident about 1.40pm on Main Lead Rd.
A State Control Centre spokesman said three CFA tankers put out a grassfire near the car.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the car collided with a tree.
A Victoria Police statement said investigators believed the Holden Commodore sedan was travelling south along Main Lead Rd when it hit a tree.
The driver died at the scene.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
The Victorian road toll stands at 30 deaths for 2013, eight less than this time last year.
