WESTERN Australian farmers are holding a rally in Perth tomorrow to get their industry on the political agenda.
The state is in the grip of an state election campaign with just over three weeks until WA votes on 9 March.Farmer on Your Plate has been organised by a group of women, led by Kukerine farmer Mary Nenke, to highlight to the importance of farming and the agricultural sector to the broader community
"It is not about 'poor farmers', rather about 'poor Australia without our farmers'," the Alarming Farming group's facebook invite said.
It's understood a number of politicians will attend the event, including both state and federal MP's and Senators.
The group is calling for people in the community to sign up as Farmer Champions.
"(Gather) your friends and colleagues to help create an avalanche of support and insure the future of Australian farmers," their rally invite said.
"Without you, farmers do not have the numbers."
The rally is being held in Perth's Forrest Place from 9am and will include a number of stalls with WA produce and city people will be encouraged to meet and talk to farmers.
