MURRAY Goulburn have announced a step up bringing the weighted-average available price to $4.90 per kilogram milk solids.
MG managing director Gary Helou yesterday announced a price increase of $0.08 cents per kilogram butterfat and $0.20c/kg protein for milk supplied across the 2012-13 season. The increase will take Murray Goulburn’s weighted-average available price to $4.90 per kilogram milk solids.
Mr Helou said the step-up was announced in an environment of lower international dairy prices, a very high Australian dollar, difficult dairying seasonal conditions and high feed costs.
“These challenges are due to external influences that are well outside MG’s control, however we have continued to focus on driving harder in areas that are under our control.”
“Improving our business performance by generating efficiencies in our operations and value in our markets has enabled us to increase farmgate returns in an otherwise very difficult market environment."
MG has also moved to assist suppliers experiencing tight cash flow, by providing the option of suspending their share equity off-take from 1 February 2013 until 30 June 2013.
