DAIRY farmers from a wide area across two states are attending today's protest meeting in Mt Gambier.

More than 200 farmers from as far afield as Adelaide and western Victoria supported the rally jointly organised by Farmer Power and the South Australian Dairyfarmers Association.

A mix of business people and farmers have crowded into the Mt Gambier Golf Club with many people forced to stand given the surprising turnout.

Robert Poole from Murray Goulburn, Joanne Bills from Dairy Australia and Ron Storey from Australian Crop Forecasters are the main speakers.
