A 30-YEAR-OLD male cyclist has been killed in an incident involving a truck at Corio this morning.
The man was riding with a group of about 50 others on Wharf Rd, north of the St Georges Rd intersection when the accident occurred just before 9am, Geelong Advertiser reports.
Police and paramedics are currently at the scene interviewing witness and treating other cyclists for shock.
Police said the male fell from his bike before being struck.
They also said speed was not a factor.
Roads in the area are currently closed while police continue with their investigations.
The riders were taking part in the Rotary District 9820 Ride to Conference, a 600km ride by about 55 riders that was aiming to raise a minimum of $65,000 for Rotary projects.
The key beneficiary is Life Education a healthy living program directed at primary school students.
Other beneficiaries include Disaster Aid Australia.
