A NEW online auction is helping smaller studs get exposure.

Earlier this month AuctionsPlus launched their new monthly multi-vendor auctions to focus on stud stock, flock rams and herd bulls.

And Ayrvale Angus stud owners, Rod and Richard White, of Cardigan, are taking advantage of the platform.

Having formed the stud in 2003 they are slowly growing by sourcing top genetics nationally and internationally.

Previously the Whites sold their bulls privately, but are selling their first lot of bulls through AuctionsPlus on March 1.

"This new platform has come out at a really good time and is a way for us to get our bulls out to a national audience," Richard White said.

Richard said one of the highlights of the sale was the bull, Ayrvale Genetic G11.

The bull is No.4 in Australia for carcass weight at +93kg, No.6 HBR Angus bull for Long Fed/CAAB Index at +$174, No.1 for Heavy Grass Fed Steer Index at +$127 and Short Fed Domestic Index at +$119.

They will also offer four of the highest HBR marbling index Te Mania Berkley B1 sons in Australia.

AuctionsPlus market operations supervisor Anna Adams said the innovative sales gave studs with smaller numbers of stock the chance to sell to a much wider audience.

"The benefit for small operators ... is that they will be able to list their stock online, in a stud stock-oriented auction, and pay only the AuctionsPlus listing fees for each animal offered."

The stud stock cattle auctions will be held at 9am on the first Friday of the month and the sheep auction will be held at noon on the first Tuesday.
